The project involves the lead decontamination and demolition of a 110-foot steel bullet trap at the Action Shooting and Pistol Ranges, Cherry Point-MCAS, Havelock, NC. The work includes personnel and ambient air monitoring, lead wipe sampling, and soil screening on berm faces to remove projectiles down to 6MM.
The service covers the removal of bullet trap structures, vegetation, timber, retaining walls, and ancillary equipment, as well as berm denuding and reconstruction. Berms were rebuilt using screened and imported soils with 2:1 slopes, compacted to 95%, and stabilized with geo-grid matting and sod.
A French drain was installed for drainage at the Pistol Range, with concrete slabs replaced and access areas re-sodded. Waste streams were minimized through recycling and reuse, with hazardous waste managed in accordance with contract requirements. Erosion and sediment controls were maintained throughout.
